OUR STORY

Currently, we specialize in sourdough breads of various sizes, as well as gluten-free loaves and cinnamon rolls.  Each of these items is made from scratch, using the same starter as the original recipe from my grandmother.

Breaking Bread was started by Wofford student Zack Morrow in the summer of 2014.  A lifelong bread lover, I learned family bread recipes from my grandmother in a bread apprenticeship of sorts.

 

Sourdough bread has always featured prominently at Morrow family gatherings.  There's something about it that is just quintessentially American: a family gathering around the table for a special occasion, starting the meal with made-from-scratch rolls.  As my grandmother has aged, she has become less able to cook large meals.  I became interested in baking bread (and breaking it) in order to preserve a family tradition--not just the bread itself, but also what it stands for: timelessness, family, craftsmanship, and quality.
