ABOUT US

We were started at Cleveland Elementary in 2013 to tie together the "fun" and the "educational." (We don't believe that there is necessarily a difference!)

Our trademark is the use of board games and one-on-one peer mentoring to teach not only academic lessons, but life lessons as well.  Board games can be used to teach perseverance, patience, strategy, competition, and gracefulness in both losing and winning.  Additionally, with the way we use them, they are tied in with the school's curriculum to reinforce what is learned in the classroom.

We go to Cleveland Elementary once a week to work with the fourth- and fifth-graders who are part of the Boys and Girls Club for one hour.  Currently we use Rummikub (think Scrabble and Rummy put together) to provide a mix of strategy and mathematics.  We hope to expand our board-game offerings through donations of unused games.
